Nigerias top blogger, Linda Ikeji has promised to give away the sum of 1 Million Naira this Christmas, to say thank you for an amazing year and to send a message to all her fans...

Read her Statement below:

Every December since 2013, I have been giving away N1million to you my amazing readers and this year will not be an exception. I would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who opened LIB in 2015! I keep saying you guys changed my life and I can't thank you enough. The individuals and companies who come here to pay huge sums of money to advertise don't do it because they like me, they do it because they know you all are here. They see the millions of clicks a day and the ranking on Alexa and they pay to use my platform to reach you guys. I owe you guys so much, for the love, support and having my back through the good, the bad and the ugly. Especially the ugly...lol.
Even the 'haters/unbelievers' contribute to the success of this blog...lol. When they start with their propaganda stories, they spread the gospel of LIB and more people come here to check things out for themselves and when they come here, they get hooked....lol. I'm grateful to them. Please continue...
I started the N1million giveaway in 2013 because the most amazing things in my life started that year and I believe in giving back!
In 2013, I built a big house for my parents in our village in Nkwerre, Imo state. I also provided borehole/water for people in my father's community who haven't had water in years. My father was eventually made a chief, a street was named after him and recently an inter-house Sport was named after him. All these was to show their appreciation for what I and my dad did for them.
My dad, who is 72, looked at me one day and said 'If I die today, I will die a happy man. Thank You!' It brought tears to my eyes, and for the first time in my life, I felt I'd really accomplished something. To see that joy and pride in a parent's eye...there's nothing like it! If you have never experienced it, I pray you do soon. I'm really grateful to have experienced it. If not for you guys, I never would have been able to. Your love for this blog and consistency has kept me in business. I am so grateful!
2014 was even a better year. I was able to realize a lot of my dreams. I even bought my dream ride...lol. They tried to shut me down...but God showed them He was bigger. And that experience brought me more readers and fans...and took LIB to a higher level.
But 2015 has so far been the most amazing year of my life! I've touched more lives this year than I'd ever done before. I helped 15 girls start their own businesses and everyday, a young girl tells me I inspire her. That means more to me than any material thing. Just being someone people look up to is a great feeling. Sharing my story and people learning from it and saying it's pushed them to want to better themselves makes me feel really good.
And I did something this year that amazed myself, my family and everyone else. I bought a house in Banana Island, Ikoyi...lol. Before I paid for the house, I remember my banker looking at me like I was crazy...lol. She was like 'you're not going to spend all that money on a house?'...I said watch me...lol. She tried to convince me to buy a house in Lekki and invest the rest in other properties and businesses but I was adamant. The house was my dream home...and I believe in living the life of your dreams...because one day, all of this will be over. She even wanted me to get a mortgage to finance the house but I refused. Till today, I still pinch myself. I can't believe how my life has changed so much. Again, all thanks to you guys!
I know buying a house for that amount in such a place confused a lot of people. Many didn't believe I could afford it...and to be honest, I don't blame them. If I were them, I'd have my doubts too. If you don't understand how this internet business works, you would never get how a blogger can afford it. But let's put it this way...Perez Hilton, who is the biggest blogger in the US is worth over $30million (Google it). He started blogging in 2005, just a year before I started blogging in 2006... and I am supposed to be the biggest blogger in Africa. Would it not be a shame if I'm not worth even $5million? Lol...especially when 90% of the companies in Nigeria who advertise online, advertise on LIB!
I read somewhere that a politician may have bought me the house...LMAO! I find that hilarious! Inside me and politicians, who get money pass? Lol. Politicians don't even live in Banana Island... they can't afford to on their salaries and remunerations...except those who are stealing government money and even those will not be stupid enough to do that before EFCC comes for them.
There's so much money to be made in media.Hundreds of brands, individuals, multinationals plug into your platform. If not for LIRS (hehe), I would have thought many of you interested in online business how you can make money. But I'd be exposing myself. Lol. (But maybe one day I'll do a one-day seminar and teach you guys the tricks...*wink*).
You remember when Oprah was still running her show? When Forbes released list of highest earning individuals, she would always top the list with like $300million earnings in one year, while actors and actresses would make less than $50m in year? That's media! Me that I'm aiming to be the first black billionaire blogger from Africa! Hehe. (some people think I already am sef...)
I'm opening up a bit more so you guys understand how this business works. And for upcoming bloggers, the worst thing you would ever do to your business is collect money from anyone for anything other than an ad campaign on your site. It's better for people to spread something that is false rather for it to be the truth. If you collect these things, it will come back to haunt you. That's a guarantee! I've never done it. Will never do it! I plan to be around for a long time.
And about all the negativity being spread online...please my darlings, ignore! When you are on top, there's so much envy. People try so much to bring you down. Your success causes them so much headache and they look for ways to discredit you, to bring you down to their level. Remember what they tried to do to me last year? I over came that and will continue to over come. They will keep coming at me with what they have...this will never stop as along as I keep staying on top...and it's okay because I plan to keep shining...lol. If they are this mad that I bought a house in Banana Island, what would they do when I eventually buy a private jet? Lol.
For every successful person out there...or just succeeding at something...these people will always exist! Your success will pain them so much, they will want your downfall. Just keep your head up and keep doing you and keep shining! To keep succeeding is your best revenge! God is your strength!
Anyway, just wanted to share a bit more and tell you guys I am giving away N1million to LIB readers as a way to appreciate your kindness and support towards me like I did the last two years. May God continue to guide and protect you guys! I will do another post letting you guys know how the money will be shared.

On Sunday night, the car of Mr. Michael Effiong, an Editor of the Ovation Magazine, with special number plate “Ovation 3”, was snatched at gun point in Maryland. Immediately, he reported to the RRS Commander, who in turn, sent radio signal to all Divisional Police Stations across Lagos state to track down the vehicle.
For Mr. Effiong, the car had gone forever. Jose Mourinho has reignited his feud with Iker Casillas by highlighting the goalkeeper’s ability to now win the Europa League following Porto’s Champions League exit.

It was gathered that, Mourinho has been accused of instigating Casillas downfall at Madrid after he dropped the Spaniard during his final season in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mourinho’s decision to bench Casillas subsequently caused a split in the Madrid dressing room, while the Portuguese had accused one of his players of being a “rat” for leaking information on his side’s tactics to the Spanish press.
But when asked about his relationship with Casillas after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Porto on Wednesday evening, Mourinho told Spanish television station MEGA:
“No problem. I’ve done my job and he has done his, and he has done well.
“Now Casillas can win the only trophy he hasn’t won. The Europa League.”

According to an Eyewitness, Yesterday the thieves came calling. They entered my compound at ijaiye in lagos and vandalized two vehicles. Both Lexus RX 300. While on the second vehicle I woke up and heard sounds downstairs. I peeped out through the window and saw two men, one was in the vehicle loosing the looseables while the other one was watching.

I shouted ‘who is that?!’ And their reply was that ‘come down naw’.

Such audacity in a crime-filled city like Lagos! I started screaming ‘thief! Ole!’ And the thief inside the car jolted and wanted to run, the other one simply told him ‘continue wetin u dey do jor’ and they went on for another 30 minutes! After which they scaled the fence and escaped in a car they came with and parked outside.

I called the phone number of the DPO of the nearest police station immediately and he sounded too drowsy or inaudible, I tried another police officer’s number and they said they are on their way. I called a few other neighbors and landlords too while screaming ‘Ole’ till they left.

The police however showed up, but only about an hour after the thieves had left. And the only question they could ask was who we suspected.
Who else if not the police themselves. Such audacity and confidence is only common amongst them or thieves that have a backup in them. Two streets away they did the same to another lexus RX350, I don’t have the pictures from those ones. But here are some from my compound.
Some of the worship centres were shut because they were converted from residential apartments to places of worship thereby contravening the law and constituting nuisance to neighbours.

Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA General Manager, Engr Rasheed Shabi, while commenting on the closures said the agency received lots of complaints from residents and neighbours of the worship centers

“In recent times, most of the petitions kept coming back to us. It was as if we are not working at all.
That was why we shut the premises. You cannot have makeshift structure and say you want to be conducting services or vigil there.
Definitely, you will be disturbing your neighbours.
So, the government won’t allow the use of makeshift facilities as a church or mosque. Nobody is allowed to make noise above 55 decibel during the day in the residential area and only 45 decibel is allowed in such area at night.
In the industrial areas, 90 decibel of noise is allowed during the day while the noise rate must not exceed 80 decibel at night in such areas.
The compliance level is increasing. More residents now understand the effect of noise.
Some of the religious houses are also complying with the noise pollution regulations,”.

According to reports, Detectives attached to Igando Police Station on Iba Road, Lagos State have arrested two men who allegedly just arrived from Niger Delta via waterway to carry out a bank robbery.
The suspects, identified as Chinedu Okoro and Keme Patrick, were apprehended on Tuesday.
The suspects were arrested after their motorcycle was flagged down by policemen who were on routine patrol duty.
Two other motorcycles, carrying about two passengers, refused to obey the policemen and disappeared.
Preliminary investigations showed that Okoro is just a hired motorcycle rider while Patrick just arrived from Delta State, with others now at large, to carry out bank robbery.
The bank robbery is supposed to take place at Abule- Egba tomorrow (Friday).
The suspect, who claimed to be a cousin of former leader of the Niger Delta militant, Ateke Tom, said he was also a former militant.
Fielding questions from detectives at Igando division, Patrick said that he only knew the name of the area, but not the particular bank they would be attacking.
He confessed to have taken part in the FESTAC town robbery, where dynamites were used to blow up banks before robbers in military uniform entered the banks and carted away millions of naira. A mother and her child were killed by the robbers’ stray bullets.
A police source said: “On Tuesday, about 6a.m, policemen from Igando Police Station were on ‘Stop-and- Search’ duty when they sighted three motorcycles.
Two of the motorcycles had two passengers and golf bags. The police flagged down them down, but two refused to stop. The policemen were able to arrest the motorcycle which was in the middle.
“The golf bag was searched. One AK49 rifle, 81 rounds of ammunition and six magazines, two mobile policemen uniforms, two mobile police caps, two military belts and one camouflage uniform were found inside the bag.”
The source explained that the suspects were taken to Igando Police Station, where Patrick confessed that Okoro was just a charted motorcyclist.
During interrogation, Patrick said that he was related to Ateke Tom. “He said he was a former militant.
He said that he had been arrested before and taken to SARS in Lagos. He was charged to court by SARS, but granted bail by the court three months ago.
He said that they just arrived Lagos State a few minutes before our men arrested them,” the source said.
The source confirmed that Patrick was earlier arrested for robbery but got bail from the court because no gun was found on him.
Patrick also told detectives that he and other gang members were supposed to meet at Abule-Egba to fine tune the robbery which was supposed to take place on Friday, before they were arrested. According to him, the three motorbikes were all heading to Abule-Egba.
The police source added: “They are supposed to meet at Abule-Egba, where they would carry out the bank robbery.
Patrick said he did not know Abule-Egba. He said that the two motorbike riders that escaped were leading him to Abule-Egba. “He said the two motorbike riders and their passengers were part of their robbery gang.
He said that they are the people that know the bank that would be robbed on Friday morning.” When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, confirmed the arrest.
He said: “Two bikers were arrested with AK 47 rifle. But we have not determined the motive for carrying arm.”

It’s no secret that certain archetypal males have been proven over and over to be irresistible to women — and it’s not simply because of their good looks or a well-defined six pack.
The truth is that women tend to be attracted to certain personality traits and so, naturally, they flock to the men who possess them.

Below are seven of these “ideal types” of guys that women are drawn to, and an explanation as to why these guys are so appealing. But don’t freak out or permanently alter your personality if you don’t fit into any of these categories exactly — women will see right through that.

Ideally, you should exude some traits from each of these different categories; in fact, you probably already do. With a quick perusal of the list below, you should be in much better shape to understand what women are looking for, and most importantly, to make sure that you fit the bill.

1. The Romantic Guy

He believes in classic romance. He is constantly bringing her flowers and chocolate and lighting candles during dinner. He calls her often to let her know he is thinking about her and looks into her eyes and tells her how he feels.

A woman loves to feel appreciated, and the romantic guy makes this happen. He uses romantic gestures to show her he is thinking about her. As an added bonus, she feels free to reciprocate and act on her own romantic tendencies.

2. The Confident Guy

He is totally secure and sure of himself. He is assertive in public and gives off an aura of power and control (within reason of course, as the “cocky guy” is not on this list). In a relationship, he doesn’t get jealous of other men; he doesn’t feel threatened by his girlfriend’s male friends or coworkers.

Women are attracted to confident men. Consider this: If you think you are great, she will probably be influenced to think the same. The confident man doesn’t seek approval from women, and this makes them want him even more.

3. The Artistic Guy
The artistic guy is spontaneous and lives for the moment. Often, he will use his creativity to woo her, such as with a song he has written about her or a painting he has made for her.

Every woman wants to feel unique and special. There is no better way to make her feel this way than to use her as your muse or your source of inspiration. She is intrigued by the artistic guy’s creative mind and especially by the way he incorporates her into his art.
Charismatic, rebellious, smart, and considerate guys all get the girl…

4. The Foreign Guy

He comes from a faraway exotic country; he might have a cute accent or a unique way of seeing the world. His social customs and everyday behavior can be a little quirky, but he always manages to come off as uniquely charming. Note that you don’t have to actually be foreign to fit into this category. If you are well-traveled or speak many languages, you might be able to pull off the charm as well as any sweet-talking foreigner.

There’s not much more I can say about this one; it’s just that mysterious je ne sais quoi that is so alluring. Women often choose this kind of guy if they are curious about the world, but most of the appeal comes down to a fascination with dating someone from another culture.

5. The Free Spirit Guy (aka the Bad Boy)

The free spirit guy goes where the wind takes him — and the wind usually takes him on some kind of wacky adventure. He might ride a motorcycle, or he might skip work to take her on a last-minute road trip, but this guy doesn’t worry too much about the consequences; he just sees where his own devices take him.

Every woman wants a bit of a rebel (within reason, of course). She loves his carefree attitude and hopes that it will rub off on her too. The bad boy spirit adds an element of youthfulness to the relationship and she loves to try taming him — although she knows she’ll never actually succeed.

6. The Intelligent/Witty Guy

He instigates conversations that are intellectually stimulating and listens to what she has to say in response. He makes her laugh with his clever sense of humor and has an uncanny ability to make politics interesting. He can shoot the breeze with her for hours and it will never get boring.

As time goes on, your hairline may recede and your buff body may soften, but if you can keep her interested, you’ve won half the battle. An intellectual connection is a big part of what sustains a relationship and if you can show her that you’ve got that, she’ll be hooked pretty quickly.

7. The Considerate Guy

He holds open her car door and pulls out her chair. He foots the bill for dinner and makes sure to offer her dessert. He always asks her out with reasonable notice and picks her up at her door. He is generally sensitive to how she is feeling and when she is ready to go home.

You probably think that nice, considerate guys never get the
woman, but consider this: Once a woman has gone through her share of the
bad guy, the rude guy and the not-calling-her-back guy, she will likely
reevaluate her priorities. It takes a bit of maturity on her part to
realize this, but eventually most girls come around and realize that
they want a guy who will treat them well in the long run.

Caution

Don’t take any of these character types to the extreme or try to be someone you’re not — it will be way too obvious.

The key to success here is to keep in mind why women like the character traits outlined above and what kind of gestures they appreciate. Then, mix them up and see which of these traits and gestures you are most comfortable with. With just a little bit of effort, you’ll be able to find more than a few irresistible qualities within yourself — and accordingly, she’ll be easily wooed by your newfound individuality.

After 30 years of dedicated service, Cyril Stober is retiring from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Cyril Stober has been around for decades, pursuing his passion in his chosen career, broadcasting. Before the advent of private stations in Nigeria, listening to the NTA news at 9 everyday was always a wonderful moment for many families in Nigeria.

Watching Frank Olize, Hon. Abike Dabiri on NTA Newslines and all the stories of what was happening around the country was amazing. Saturday mornings were also magical with the
likes of late Yinka Craig on Morning Ride.

Watching Sienne All Well Brown, Ruth Benemesia Opia, John Momoh and the late Tokunbo Ajayi on NTA news was so intriguing.

Everybody admired the authority and eloquence with which they delivered the news. He's
anchored several editions of NTA news and other programmes for years. Let's hear your wishes for
him.

Congratulations for a fulfilled retirement Sir Cyril Stobber!
The immediate past Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, illegally approved the transfer of at least N61.4 billion ($300 million and £5.5 million) from funds recovered from late dictator, Sani Abacha, to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, few weeks to the 2015 presidential election, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report today.
The former Minister signed off on the transfer but then closed her eyes to how the funds were spent, requesting then President Goodluck Jonathan to directly demand accountability from Mr. Dasuki, according to documents seen by this newspaper.

Read the full statement below:

As part of the campaign of falsehood against former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala by Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and other powerful and corrupt interests, another baseless story has been published by some online media. To achieve their evil propaganda objective of tarnishing her name, these evil elements have distorted the contents of a memo dated January 20, 2015 in which the former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala responded to a request by the former National Security Adviser, Col Ibrahim Dasuki (retired) for funds to prosecute the terror war against Boko Haram.

Here are the facts:
· The central responsibility of the Minister of Finance IS to find sources of funding for the financing of approved national priorities such as security, job creation and infrastructure.

· It will be recalled that throughout 2014, there were public complaints by the military hierarchy to President Goodluck Jonathan about the inadequacy of funds to fight the anti-terror war in the North East, resulting in Boko Haram making gains and even taking territories. A lot of the criticism was directed at the Federal Ministry of Finance under Dr Okonjo-Iweala which was accused of not doing enough to find funds for the operations.

· In fact, the Ministry, on several occasions, had to call press conferences to provide details of budgetary spending on the military, to show, against the background of limited resources and other urgent national priorities, that it was doing its best on funding security.

· It was about this time that some new Abacha funds of about $322m were returned with another $700m still expected to be returned. (This is not to be confused with the Abacha funds returned in 2005-2006 under the Obasanjo government whose use for developmental purposes was monitored by the World Bank as earlier explained by Dr Okonjo-Iweala).

· Former President Jonathan set up a Committee comprising of the former Minister of Justice, former NSA and the former Minister of Finance to determine how best to use both the returned and expected funds for development.

· The NSA made a case for using the returned funds for urgent security operations since, he noted, there cannot be any development without peace and security. Based on this, a decision was taken to deploy about $322m for the military operations, while the expected $700m would be applied for development programmes as originally conceived.

· Following the discussions and based on the urgency of the NSA’s memo, Dr Okonjo-Iweala requested the President to approve the transfer of the requested amount to the NSA’s Office for the specified purposes.

· But, as captured in the memo, she insisted on three conditions: a. only a part, not the entire Abacha funds would be spent on the arms; the rest would be invested in developmental projects as originally conceived b. the money was to be treated as borrowed funds which would be paid back as soon as possible c. the NSA’s office was to account for the spending to the President who was the Commander in Chief, given the fact that the Minister of Finance is not part of the security architecture and does not participate in the Security Council.
Catfish Pepper Soup Causes Cancer?

I stumbled upon this post yesterday while surfing around. I was really dumbfounded, thus i decided to share here to see what you guys have to say about this.

According to a cardiologist, Dr. Jane Anisulowo, says that farm or home-grown catfish is the worst example in this regard, as it contains more fatty hormones than the ones harvested from natural water.

Anisulowo says,

“Fish is better than meat, no doubt. It digests easily and it contains proteins. However, catfish is not really a good option, especially the ones they sell these days, which are cultivated with hormonal feeds that are filled with steroids and other fattening chemicals just to make them profitable. These chemicals are cancerous in nature.“Also, they contain so much oil that you can almost taste it. Fish, generally, contains oil, but catfish has oil in its skin. That is what makes it so oily and unhealthy.

“It also contains a lot of poly unsaturated fat that does not only make you fat but also settles in the blood stream. That is very dangerous because when blood fails to get to an organ, it fails and suffers paralysis.”“If you can get the one from the river, which is rare in most cities, then you may eat it twice a month. But if the only one you can get is the one that is being reared by farmers, you don’t have to eat at all, or just eat it when it is partially smoked. In that way, some of the fats would have been lost in the process. Better still, there are some other species of fish that are oily but they contain good fats and are more nutritious.”

While speaking at a meeting which was held with bloggers at Zen Garden Chinese restaurant Ikeja, Lagos today November 23rd, The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed says the Federal government is not about to regulate or stultify the Nigerian Social Media.

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18.2px;"> "There is enormous power in your fingertips, and no one can ignore you. Such is the prodigious power in your hands that it becomes imperative for you Nigerian bloggers to allow some measure of responsibility and restraint in exercising such power. Herein lies the challenge: Power without control is a recipe for disaster!. What I am saying in essence is that you must self-regulate in order not to self-destruct. Self-regulation allows you Nigerian bloggers to weed out the charlatans among you in order to maintain your credibility and ensure your survival. Lose credibility and lose it all. That is the stark reality. If you must survive and grow, you must not compromise your credibility. Let me assure you that the Federal Government does not intend to stifle free speech or abridge the rights of Nigerians to air their views freely. We are not about to regulate or stultify the Social Media. This explains why we are asking you Nigerian Bloggers to self-regulate. That is why we are encouraging you the Nigerian bloggers to rein in the impostors among you and show restraint when dealing with issues of national unity, issues of Nigeria's sovereignty, as well as issues concerning the lives and well-being of Nigerians"he said
